Week of August 25th.

August 27th, 2008

I know that over the past few weeks my site has been a little jumbled.  Twoplusone has been doing a great job to get my site where it needs to be. I will be adding photos weekly not only to the blog (News), but to the galleries as well.  Please keep checking back and bear with us during the construction.

August 23rd I photographed the M. Reception.  The M’s were so great with posing that it was almost like a romantic dance when we had our session.  I worked with Kim C.  who is my staff photographer.  We had such a great time throughout the evening.

Yesterday I did some photos of Ella. It had been a while and she has gotten very mobile. This is a hand-me-down silk dress that photographed great.

I will be sending out a formal News Letter in the next month or so.  Currently, there is a show of my work up at Three Sisters Cafe on Hope st. in Providence. It will be up until September 15th. If you cannot make it I have included some photos below.  The show consists of infants and adults.  I am donating the entire show to the new NICU at Women and Infant’s Hospital.

This weekend we had a Providencepinup.com workshop. It was so great! I’m so happy with the images that I can’t wait for our next one on October 19th. Here are two sample pics.

Our official site is now up and we will be adding to it very soon. We will have some video, topics of conversation, and “How to be a Bombshell” tips. We also have a MySpace page with images, friends and comments.

I can say this is one of the bravest couples I have ever worked with. They did not let the rain stop them from their outdoor ceremony.  It actually made the event more intimate with the whole wedding under the gazebo. We made our way to the carousel as it thundered.

Week of July 27th

July 31st, 2008

I’m afraid I slacked on my blog this week, but I finally caught up. This image is my little Ella with my Providencepinup.com business partner, LuLu.

I’m very excited about this new project. Below is a detailed explaination of what we are doing.

lulu-224-copy.jpg

Providencepinup.com, a one-stop hair, make-up and photography shop dedicated to the pin-up tradition and style of Betty Page, Alberto Vargas and Zoe Mozert. Providencepinup.com offers studio sessions where women can have their hair and make-up professionally styled and choose from an impressive array of vintage Inspired clothing for a personal photo shoot.

Providencepinup.com caters to women of all ages and body types, as the professional staff understands how to capture the unique beauty in every woman. Like pin-up art in general, providencepinup.com photo sessions run the gamut from playful to sexy, you can say Maryanne to Ginger. Providencepinup.com believes that pin-up art is a celebration of woman’s independence and sexuality which rejects the misogyny evoked by today’s emaciated, botoxed and “enhanced”

professional models as well as the whole “Girl-Gone-Wild” ethos.

Studio offerings range from individual sessions to entire bachelorette parties. Extras include your image on calendars and playing cards in the classic Varga Girl tradition. Providencepinup.com is a proud sponsor of Providence Roller Derby and can be found in many of Providence’s finest tattoo parlors. Package

prices begin at $295.

Week of July 21st.

July 22nd, 2008

I had no weddings last weekend. I did work for The Power Chord Academy, which is a rock and roll summer camp. The kids are so funny. I saw one camper dressed like Kiss. PCA has a mystery guess/working band every session to play a show then do a Q&A after. This is Reign of Kindo. They were very jazz meets indie. I don’t think the kids got how good they were.

I’ve been very excited about the feed back of Providencepinup.com The site is up. I will have more to talk about it soon. LuLu and I have been talking everyday about ideas.

Back from the Beach

July 7th, 2008

I’m back from vacation and I feel great. Oskar and Ella both loved the beach. It was so great to spend time with my family in the summer. I had a great time doing beach sessions. Here are some of the photos.

I hope to do this again next year.

Before I left I had a great shoot. I’ve been working with Lu Lu, a very talented Providence-based hair stylus. We both love pin-up girls and have begun to hold sessions where you can have your hair and makeup done and pose for 1940’s style “pin-up” photos. We are soon going on-line with, Providencepinup.com. We are also available for Bachelorette parties.

Here is a sample from our promo shoot.

Weekend of June 21st

June 23rd, 2008

So far in my entire career  I had never worked the same venue two days in a row until last weekend.  It was at the Officer’s Club in Newport. One if the weddings was shot by my staff photographer, Kim.  I was not booked that day, so I decided to stop in for the formals.  I lent Kim a pair of crocs and we ventured into the water.  The groom carried his bride which I thought was so fun.

On Sunday I was back to photograph the N. wedding.  It was a very intimate affair with only forty people.  The skys were overcast for the sunset, but I think this often creates a dramatic portrait.

I will not be blogging for two weeks due to vacation.  There is still room in my schedule for Beach sessions if any one is interested.  Just email me.  Hopefully, I will have a ton of  great photograhs when I get back.

Happy fourth.

This week I photographed at Squantum Association. I love this venue because it is where Chris and I got married. I feel I know every spot to take photos. At least until the next wedding when I find more.

On Father’s day I photographed the C. family. They are my neighbors and watch my children time to time. It seems like yesterday that we moved in and their kids seemed so young.

I know that Mom C. is a more traditional lady when it comes to her photos, but I thought this shot was alot of fun.  Go Team!

Weekend of June 7th

June 10th, 2008

It was a very busy weekend.  On Friday night at 10pm, I received a call from J.  She had just learned that the hotel her wedding was going to take place at the following day had been shut down due to electrical problems.  It is safe to say that she was in a panic.  The hotel responded by moving the reception to its sister hotel.  No one had even seen the room, though they didn’t have much of a choice.  After their ceremony everyone wanted to go the beach to take photos, but they not sure where to go.  Luckily, I had gotten there earlier that afternoon to take a look around.  They didn’t realize the resort had a private beach for their own use.  All’s well that end’s well.

My staff photographer, Kim, was out photographing as well that day.  It was a very small intimate wedding.  She’s the queen of Newport.  Since she had gone to school there, she knows every short cut to beat the limo. This weekend she had taken C. and J. in her own car to take them to unique spots. I love this photo of them in her rear view.leonard672008-391-copy.jpg
