Vintage Events

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

This summer I had the Pleasure of attending a few vintage events.

The Jazz Age Lawn Party, NYC

Jazz Age Lawn Party presented by Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra.

Under a shady grove of centuries-old trees, caressed by fresh sea air, a sprawling green surrounded by historic officers’ quarters and 18th century naval ramparts, becomes the setting for a true Gatsby affair.

Newport Vintage Dance Week, Newport, RI

Hosted by The Commonwealth Vintage Dancers, Travel Back in Time to the summer playground of the Gilded Age. Perfect your dancing skills with classes taught by leading experts on vintage dance. Experience the breathtaking opulence of America ’s finest ballrooms as you dance in Newport’s famous mansions. Let yourself be immersed in a bygone era as you sip tea by the shore…  Sadly this is the last year of this event. They do however have many other events in the Boston area.

Chifferobe, Coming to town near you.

Chifferobe is both a traveling club and an event production company. Whether you are looking for an extraordinary night on the town or a private affair to remember, Chifferobe offers exceptional events for you.

Our club nights take place at venues throughout the North East, though we are based in Providence, RI. These occasions are inspired by the follies, supper clubs, and USO shows of bygone eras.

To see more of these images they will exclusively will be published to The Niki Luparelli and the Gold Digger’s FB page.

ReVamped Little Queenie at Horseneck Beach and Sayles Mill Photo Collabrative

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

This week Revamped session was with the amazing model Queenie at Horseneck Beach Westport, Ma.

This session was inspired by photographer and model Bunny Yeager.

Born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, U.S. Yeager became one of the most photographed models in Miami. After retiring from modeling, she began her career behind the camera. She met Bettie Page in 1954, and took most of the photographs of her that year.[1] Along with photographer Irving Klaw, Yeager played a role in helping to make Page famous, particularly with her photos in Playboy magazine.[1] Yeager is also credited with discovering the model Lisa Winters.[citation needed] Following Page’s retirement, Yeager remained a successful photographer. She took the well-known still images of Ursula Andress on the beach in the 1962 James Bond film Dr. No, and discovered many other notable models.[1] In 1968 she played the role of a Swedish masseuse opposite Frank Sinatra in Lady In Cement.[1]

When I first started to really photograph Pin- up a few years ago in my searches I had come across Bunny Yeager’s website.

At the time was was still working. I had ordered a many of her books and they all came signed. How amazing and what an inspiration. I still have her business card in a place or honor in my studio.

For more images and movie from this session Check out the Vintage Girl Studios Blog or The VGS Facebook page.

Where have I been!

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

I know  have not been blogging on this site but that is about to change. Vintage Girl Studios has been such a  success that it has almost taken over my studio. So much so that I have limited the weddings I do per year.  Now that the new studio has been completed and VGS is moving in the direction I hoped for, some real thought and attention will be going into updating this site.  This will be starting weekly. I have started a New Facebook Page  for KHP where I will be adding images weekly.  I have added a 2010 and 2011 to the wedding gallery on this site. Keep posted for more images here!!

I have been working with  Providence Monthly over the past year.  This session with Elizabeth Hopkins of the Rhode Show was shot for the Style section.   Elizabeth looked so fabulous.   This shoot was one of my first  in the new studio, and I love having having the extra room and equipment.

I want all my clients to know that I have recently left Providence Pin- Up and will be opening, Vintage Girl Studios, a service of Krzystyna Harber Photography.

As PPU’s co-founder, I spent countless hours developing the business and exploring concept-based, pin-up photography.   My time there was well spent!  We did some wonderful things.

Now, however, I’m so excited about moving to a new studio to start this project.  I plan to take the photography in a different direction and to offer more personal and attentive service.

UPDATE 2021:
I cannot believe that 11 years have gone by since this blog was posted.  I remembered writing it I was very nervous, scared, and had a lot of feelings. My children were so young and I had found my purpose in my art. Could this be an actual business? Will this work? I was also feeling a bit lonely in my vision with past partners. I was lucky to have the support of my husband and family through this journey. I made it a mission to have a unique studio that would empower all people through vintage glamour photography.
Over the past eleven years, we have had the pleasure of photographing hundreds of people in the studio, been to countless events, made dreams come true, created so much art, partnered with small businesses, donated our services, and made so many friends.
I truly love what I do and will not be stopping.

Last week during my move I received a phone call for a maternity session.   I was not taking appointments until the 12th, but I realized she was in her 38th week – so we made it work!

To accommodate, we did a home session where I set up the studio in her living room and outside her home.  I’m so excited to work with them again and to soon meet Baby.
